Kamloops NorthPaws infielder Ty Penner is the first player from the expansion franchise to sign a professional contract.
The University of British Columbia sophomore signed as a free agent with the Philadelphia Phillies following the 2022 MLB Draft.
The 6’4″ left-handed bat from Lethbridge, AB hit for a .214 average with three doubles, three RBI and one home run in 15 games for the NorthPaws during the 2022 season.
He hit for a .337 average with 11 home runs and 46 RBI in 52 games with the UBC Thunderbirds this past collegiate season.
