Norbrock Stadium Named Field of the Year
Norbrock Stadium, home of the NorthPaws, was named the Sports Turf Managers Association 2021 field of the year.
The City of Kamloops announced the award in a press release Wednesday morning, Norbrock won in the Fields and Parks – Baseball category. Kamloops was the only community to see two fields win awards in 2021.
It is the second time Norbrock Stadium has garnered the internationally recognized accolade, as the field was also the recipient in 2018.
NorthPaws Introduce Jenna Forter as New GM
The Kamloops NorthPaws has a new face at the helm.
Kamloops local Jenna Forter has been hired as the expansion team’s new general manager.
“I have a passion for the Kamloops community and I truly believe in the legacy the NorthPaws want to build. I’m excited to be a part of building this expansion franchise,” says Forter.
2021 Commitments Re-Sign with NorthPaws
The Kamloops NorthPaws have resigned a quartet of players and a coach who were slated to be a part of the 2021 campaign.
Players Thomas Green, Marshal Luiz, Trey Newman, Colby Ring and assistant coach Sammie Starr have all recommitted to the Tournament Capital’s expansion franchise after missing the opportunity last summer when the 2021 season was cancelled due to pandemic-related circumstances.
“I wish Kamloops could’ve seen these guys this past summer but talking with them they continue to be excited to come to Kamloops and be a part of what we’re building with the NorthPaws,” says head coach Cole Armstrong.
NorthPaws Win Sunday Rubber Match to Take Series Over Bells
The Kamloops NorthPaws defeated the Bellingham Bells 3-2 Sunday afternoon to win the weekend series on Dearborn Ford Field at Norbrock Stadium.
Tyson Heaton – fresh off a national championship with Central Arizona College – picked up with win in his West Coast League debut. He struck out five batters and allowed two runs in five innings of work.
NorthPaws Fall to Bells in Game 2 of Weekend Series
The Bellingham Bells defeated the Kamloops NorthPaws 8-1 Saturday night on Dearborn Ford Field at Norbrock Stadium to equalize the weekend series.
The rubber match goes Sunday afternoon at 1:05pm – the first afternoon home game for the NorthPaws this season.
